3. What you buy and what you may do with it

The product

Each product is digital. It includes a game or puzzle-maker file, a "Read me first" guide and an unlock code. Some products also let you play online or on phones. Each product's page says what it includes. Nothing is posted to you.

Your licence

When you buy, we give you a personal licence to use the product. It is yours to keep, but you can't transfer it to anyone else. You may:

You may not:

If an unlock code has been shared publicly, we may switch it off. If you're the person who bought it, we'll give you a new code.

Prices and payment

Prices are in South African rand (R). We aren't registered for VAT, so there is no VAT to add. There are no delivery charges. If you are outside South Africa, we also show a rough price in your currency at today's rate. PayFast takes the payment, and you can choose to pay in your own currency there. The amount on your card statement may differ slightly because of your bank's exchange rate and fees. PayFast handles your card details on its secure payment page. We never see or keep them.

If we show a wrong price by obvious mistake, we'll tell you before delivering and you can choose to pay the right price or get your money back.

Devices

The file opens on computers and Android phones. On iPhone and iPad, you use the product online with your unlock code. Online features and phone games need an internet connection and a recent web browser. Help explains which devices work how. Please check it before you buy.

Updates and changes

We may improve products, fix problems and change or remove features. Updates are free. A new version downloads as a new file, so the one you have keeps working. We won't take away the main thing a product was sold to do.

Our online services

Using a product on this website, downloading updates and playing games on phones all depend on our online services. We work hard to keep them running, but we can't promise they will always be available or free of faults. They may sometimes be slow or offline, for example during maintenance, while a provider is having problems, or when a daily limit is reached.

If we ever plan to stop an online service that a product you bought relies on, we will give at least 6 months' notice on this website, and by email if we have your address. The file in your download keeps working without our online services, as far as that product allows.

4. Games played on phones

Some games run on a shared screen (a laptop or TV), with each player using their own phone. In these terms the organiser is the person who opens the game, usually the buyer. A player is anyone who joins.

Who may play

What players send

Everyone is responsible for what they type and send in a game, including names, moves and messages to other players. We don't read, check or moderate them. Please don't send anything that is:

Please also don't try to break, overload, copy or interfere with our services or other players' games. We may close a room or block access if these rules are broken, or to protect players or our services.

Saved games and moves between game nights

Connecting

To keep games fast, phones on the same game may link to each other directly. When they can't, messages pass through our service. The privacy page explains what that means for you.

5. Your puzzles and content

You are responsible for what you write in the puzzles you make and send, and for having the right to use any words or pictures you put in them. Puzzles you make never reach our server, so we can't see or recover them. In phone games, moves and messages pass through our service only as described in section 4.

If someone claims against us because of what you sent or made with our products, in breach of these terms or the law, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of dealing with it, as far as the law allows.

6. Play safely

7. Free games

The free games, the daily puzzles and the weekly challenge on this site are offered as they are, and may change or end at any time.

8. Our content and names

Our products, games, artwork, text, sounds and code belong to us or the people who license them to us, and are protected by copyright. "Puzzled Post" is our trading name. Our war games work alongside any tabletop miniatures game. We are not linked to, endorsed by or sponsored by any game publisher, and any other names belong to their owners.

9. Delivery

10. Refunds

We want you to be happy with what you buy. You get a full refund if, within 30 days of buying:

Change of mind. Your download is delivered the moment you pay, at your request. Once your download page has opened, you no longer have a right to cancel for a change of mind. This applies to the 7-day cooling-off period under South Africa's Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, and to the similar right in other countries, as far as their laws allow. If you're unsure, try the free 1-minute puzzle and the free games first.

To ask for a refund, email [email protected] from the address you bought with and tell us what went wrong. We reply within 2 working days. Refunds go back to the card you paid with, through PayFast, within 10 working days. When we refund, your unlock code stops working, so please delete the file. Etsy orders are refunded through Etsy.

11. Cancellation

You can cancel at any time before you pay: just close the page, and nothing is charged. You can check your order and email address, and correct them, before you pay. Orders are delivered straight after payment, so there is nothing to cancel afterwards. If something is wrong, see Refunds.

There are no subscriptions or repeat charges. If you get news emails from us, every one has a one-click unsubscribe link.

12. Our responsibility to you

13. Things outside our control

We aren't responsible for delays or failures caused by things we can't reasonably control. Examples are outages at our service providers (such as Cloudflare, PayFast or our email provider), internet failures, power cuts, natural disasters or acts of government.

14. Complaints and disputes

If something is wrong, please email [email protected] first. We reply within 2 working days and will try to put it right.

If we can't settle it, South African consumers can go to the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud (cgso.org.za) or the National Consumer Commission (thencc.org.za). These terms are governed by the law of South Africa, and the South African courts deal with disputes. If you live in another country, you also keep any right your own country's law gives you to take a case to your local courts.
